Sunrise Elementary

Sunrise School is a specialized school providing Special Education services to students in grades TK through 5 within the Mt. Diablo Unified School District.

Sunrise serves a maximum of 63 students in seven classes.   Each classroom is staffed with a special education teacher and special education assistant(s), and supported by Behavioral Health Specialists. Classrooms are staffed to maintain a minimum 1:3 adult-to-student ratio. All classrooms are designated as Special Day Classrooms.   

Sunrise School provides an academic program consistent with state and district standards, using modified instructional materials and settings, as needed, to meet individual student needs.  Modifications and accommodations are used in accordance with each student’s educational plan.

At Sunrise students receive a strong, structured behavior management program to promote academic and social-emotional growth. Students are expected to do their personal best and to accept responsibility for learning and for their behavior.
